Um mal die Gerüchteküche wieder anzuheizen

Mir ist aufgefallen, dass in 2006 viele Bücher von zwei oder drei Autoren erschienen sind. Zudem sind wirklich wenige Produkte von den festangestellten WotC Autoren erschienen.

Ich denke da insbesondere an Andy Collins und RIch Baker die auch maßgeblich die 3.5E "designed" haben.

Könnte ein Hinweis sein, dass sie an der 4E arbeiten.

Dies ist sicherlich eine Überlegung wert. Doch man sollte auch bedenken, dass Rich zum Beispiel in der letzten Zeit auch ziemlich mit dem Roman Schreiben (Last Mythal) beschäftigt gewesen ist. Auch scheinen zur Zeit viele Autoren an "wirklich tollen" Produkten zusammen zu arbeiten, allein das FR Megaadventure beschäftigt ja schon die ganze Rige der bekannten festen Autoren sowie eben auch Rich Baker, Eric L. Boyd, Thomas M. Reid, David Noonan sowie für das neue Drow Buch Sean K. Reynolds oder aber wieder Eric L. Boyd für Expedition to Undermountain *Zechi der gerne Öl ins Gerüchtefeuer gießt*

Die von dir genannten sind aber größtenteils keine festangestellten Autoren.

Eric L. Boyd, Sean K. Reynolds und Thomas M. Reid sind keines festangestellten.

Bei David Noonan bin ich mir nicht sicher.

Bei Andy Collins ist es finde ich wirklich auffällig. Er ist festangestellt und 3.5E Lead Designer, aber ich glaube 2006 sind nur Dungeon Tiles von ihm erschienen  :roll:

Will ja auch keine Panik schieben, könnte halt nur wirklich darauf hindeuten, dass die 4E 2007 angekündigt wird und dann Mitte 2008 erscheint.

Also von dem Zeitplan gehe ich irgendwie aus. Denn was wollten WotC denn sonst 2008 veröffentlichen? PHB 3? Complete Illusionist? Complete Drow (obwohl...)? MM 37?
Mich würde die 4E 2008 überhaupt nicht überraschen. Spätestens 2009 ist sie sogar notwendig!

Stimmt, Andy Collins ist wirklich ruhig.

Ich würde sofort in die 4E einsteigen, solang es nicht der große Schnitt wie von der 2E zur 3E wird. Ansonsten wird Wizards noch etwas warten müssen bevor sie an mir mit der 4E Geld verdienen können.
Dies sind eigentlich meine größten Bedenken, zum einen das von mir Angesprochene sowie das wirkliche geile Layout der FR Bücher....ob so etwas noch einmal hinbekommen wird?!?!

Der gute Mann hat also gerade Urlaub gemacht und schreibt viele Artikel. Vielleicht arbeitet er zur Zeit doch nicht an einer 4E oder aber er ist auf Inspirationssuche in DownUnder.

Jep, Gwendolyn F. Kestrel ist die Frau von Andy Collins und arbeitet auch für Wizards.

Das Andy Collins ein paar Wochen im Urlaub war und mehr in Sage Arbeit investiert habe ich auch gelesen, dennoch ist es angesichts praktisch keiner Produkte von ihm im Jahr 2006 schon seltsam.

Ein Statement von Ryan Dancey zur 4E, einem WotC Ex-Mitarbeiter (interessant ist vor allem der fett hervorgehobene Satz):

I am of two minds about "4th Edition".

First, I think that WotC may, at some point, create a product called "4th Edition", but that product will look just like 3rd Edition with a series of clear rules improvements & tweaks; essentially, a 3.5 on steroids. To me, that's a "marketing release".

Second, I think WotC may actually try to make "Dungeons & Dragons" mean "a miniatures game with roleplaying", and I could see them creating a whole new way of presenting D&D in a miniatures-centric way that would be worth calling the line "4th Edition". To me, that's a "new design release".

I think there's a good chance, probably 50/50, that we'll see a 3.75 kind of release in 2007 or 2008. A new set of core books, revised, but basically the same game we already have. I think that product will not be called "4th Edition", nor will it be marketed as 4th Edition. There are powerful forces inside WotC that believe (not without quite a bit of market research and product experience to back them up) that gamers will buy a "revision" to a games' core rules every 3-4 years and that not inducing those purchases is just leaving money on the table.

What I'd like to see is a "4th Edition" which hybridizes MMORPG play and tabletop play, with an RPGA moderation facility, that uses on-line tools to create characters and scenarios, and focuses on bringing the best elements of the tabletop and the digital environments together under the most powerful brand in fantasy adventure gaming. If you ever see a notice that WotC has hired me back to run RPGs, that's the direction I'll be looking to move.

Ich finde ja die Vision von Ryan Dancey am Ende interessant, auch wenn ich mir nicht vorstellen kann wie das funktionieren soll.

Verstehe ich das richtig:
online gestütze Table-Tops, quasi als MMORPGs am heimischen Wohnzimmertisch?
Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich die Idee abstoßend oder revolutionär genial finden soll (als bekennender MMORPG-Ablehner  :roll: ).
