Ich denke nicht, dass D&D unwirtschaftlich ist. Das Miniaturen Spiel sowieso nicht (welches ohne das Rollenspiel bei weitem nicht so gut laufen würde), die Romane auch nich aber auch das klassische Rollenspiel nicht.
Die wenigen Aussagen die ich zur Wirtschaftlichkeit gemacht wurden, waren immer sehr positiv.
Das Problem ist denke ich, dass D&D im Vergleich zu anderen Spielen (Magic z.B.) deutlich weniger Gewinn erwirtschaftet, weil es einfach weniger Leute spielen.
In einem Thread auf EN-World wurde übrigens mal in etwa durchgerechnet, wann frühestens die 4E angekündigt werden könnte.
Rechnerisch dürfte das nicht vor Gen Con 2007 geschehen: Bis dahin steht der Produktplan von WotC (mit 3.5E Produkten) und auch das Dungeon Magazine hat bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt ihren 3. Adventure Path geplant, der auch 3.5E ist. Also 1 Jahr wird mit Sicherheit vergehen bis es die erste Ankündigung geben könnte. Denkbar ist aber auch erst 2008 und ein Erscheinen 2009.

I just heard from a high-up at WotC. He says the info is so wrong that he suspects that my source is out to torpedo "my reputation" by giving me something this far off the mark.
I trust my source's intentions, though as I've said earlier my source could be misunderstanding something, or I could have misconstrued something.
Hopefully if the WotC person doesn't mind outing himself he could post here to verify and share what info he is allowed to share.
In any case, I responded to him as I respond to all of you: I'm out of the "D&D scoop business" and so this is the last you'll hear from me on anything 4E related.
