A portion of our customers (and would-be customers) have been clamoring for us to make DriveThru’s titles available in standard PDF instead of as DRM-secured e-Books.
We are almost ready to make that a possibility. Later this week our site will be down for 2 days while we implement the final changes to our servers to make this possible.
When the site comes back up, our publisher partners will be able to offer their titles in either the standard DRM format or in a new watermarked, standard PDF. The new watermarking option imprints a small watermark on the bottom of each page of a PDF file at the time of purchase, making each such file purchased at DriveThruRPG a uniquely labeled file. The file is otherwise a standard PDF file that can be searched, text copied, printed and otherwise used like any other PDF file.
Many of our publisher partners are choosing to embrace the new format. So, hundreds of new and classic RPG titles will be available in standard PDF for the first time ever.
With so many RPG titles to convert, we will not immediately have all of the titles changed over to the watermarked PDF. Over the next few weeks, we will be changing over the format of the titles one publisher at a time until all of our publisher partners who are adopting the new format have been converted. We will put a list on the site detailing the changeovers and when we expect them to occur.
If you have previously purchased titles from a publisher in DRM format and those titles are converted to the watermarked format, your downloads will automatically be reactivated (under your account info) to allow you to download those books in the new format!
Schliesslich muss man ihnen ja Zeit geben. Eine Webseite kann nicht einfach so in 8 Monaten hingeklatscht werden. Das braucht seine Zeit.
